Novus Consulting is looking for a Software Engineer who is willing to take this journey with us as we build out our product roadmap for existing oil and gas clients we are partnering with. While Novus Consulting is a well established company in oil and gas, our product team will feel very much like a startup opportunity with several with tremendous upside for teammates who join us early.
Some travel is to be anticipated with this role. One of the differentiating aspects of the Novus product team is that our products will be built with field operations teams, in the field. This doesn't mean we are in the field the entire week, but means we will spend whatever amount of time we need to in the field to fully understand what our customers are needing from our product to help them do their job more efficiently and safer.
This opportunity is a remote/hybrid opportunity. We will accept applications from across the US but prefer local to the OKC market. Our expectation is for the candidate to be in the office for key strategy sessions, roadmap discussions, and collaboration opportunities. After that, it's up to you to determine your most optimal home/office balance.
Job responsibilities
- Candidate will be expected to develop features on our product roadmap for React and React Native mobile and web applications.
- Participating in bi-weekly scrum ceremonies including user story review, backlog grooming, estimation, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
- Frontend development including UI/UX, necessary supporting API calls, and underlying database design and development.
- Work closely with the Product Manager to understand the vision, strategy, and roadmap for your area of responsibility providing necessary technical perspective and insights.
- Some travel from time to time to visit users in the field to build important relationships, ensure we have the highest level of understanding of customer needs, and guarantee we are delivering for them. No travel will be required, but the opportunity will be there frequently and encouraged.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of software engineering experience and leadership across a wide breadth of technologies and competencies, such as AWS cloud, ETL/ELT design patterns, data governance, building and managing enterprise data lakes, architectural integration patterns & APIs, and structured and unstructured data.
- SAAS application experience is preferred.
- Experience with AWS technologies and server-less design patterns.
- Web and mobile development experience working with React, React Native, and Node.js utilizing test driven development methodologies.
- Comfortable working in a hybrid development timeline approach of waterfall and agile as the product feature timeline requires and determined by the development team.
- Experience participating in scrum ceremonies including user story review, backlog grooming, estimation, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
- Experience with daily scrum ceremonies and working in an environment of high trust and high accountability to each other.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
- Experience in the Oil and Gas industry, specifically around Production,Financial and/or Operations data is preferred but not required.
